Custom Speaker Cable Build Guide
This guide runs through every option available for our custom speaker cables.
Given the thousands of different variations we offer, it would take us a lifetime to build every one and take a photo to see what each variation looks like. Instead, we cover off each part to give you an idea of what you can expect.
First and most importantly, cables are sold as each. As there may be different requirements for each cable, we offer them individually. A standard stereo system (Front Right and Front Left speakers) will require you building and adding 2x cables to your cart.
All cables come with branding as shown in some of the images below.
WIRE GAUGE:
Options: 11 AWG, 13 AWG, 14 AWG, 16 AWG
All wire options are Australian Made.
The 11 AWG and 13 AWG options are very similar. They are flat cable, with black insulation. Our 14 AWG option is a round cable, with grey insulation. Our 16 AWG option is also a round cable, with violet insulation.
We only have one gauge available for the Bi-Wire/Bi-Amp cables which is 14 AWG. Bi-Wire cables come with 2x plugs at one end (typically the amp end) and 4x plugs on the other end (typically the speaker end). Bi-Amp cables have 4x plugs on each end.

LENGTH:
Options: 0.5m, 1m, 2m, 3m, 4m, 6m, 7m, 8m, 9m, 10m, 11m, 12m, 13m, 14m, 15m.
This is pretty simple. Pick the length you want each cable! This length is the actual length of the wire we use in the cable, any plugs/connectors will make the overall length of your cable a little longer. You can select lengths up to 15m, however we can do any length you need. Simply send us an email on sales@nbspeakercables.com.au if you need lengths longer than 15m and we can do up a custom invoice.
NAKED OR SLEEVED:
Options: Naked or Sleeved
The Naked option leaves the cable as is so the colour will be the colour of the insulation covering each wire (ie Black for our 11 AWG and 13 AWG options, Grey on our 14 AWG option and Violet on our 16AWG option).
The Sleeved option adds a Techflex Sleeve to your cable. This adds a nice aesthetic touch to your cable with a colour of your choice.
The sleeve colours currently on offer are: Black, White, Red, Blue, Green, Black/Green and Red/Blue.
We are limited with custom colours at the moment as we don't have a local supplier of Techflex Sleeving and importing short lengths is extremely expensive but if you're super keen on a certain colour, flick us an email and we can look at your options.
PLUG TYPE - AMP END & PLUG TYPE - SPEAKER END
Options: Banana, Spade, Pin, Krix, Elitist
You have an option for each end of your cable as different equipment can have different requirements. Examples shown below are using our black sleeved 11 AWG cable.
Note: This arrangement assumes Red/POS is on the left side on your amp and on the right side on your speaker (facing the terminals). This is typical on the majority of equipment.

- Insulation thickness - 0.4mm
- Sheath thickness - 0.7mm

14 AWG:

- Comprising of 50 x 0.25mm conductors for a nominal area of 2.5mm (or 14 AWG)
- Oxygen Free Copper (OFC) to AS1125 Standards

- Electrical Resistance – 8.0 ohm/km @ 20c
- Insulation thickness - 0.8mm
