A tweaked version of our Mercury Speaker kit (found here). We built this speaker to test some new methods in assembly as well as wanting to build a speaker with a hardwood baffle. We're stoked with the result! This speaker was made in house by NBSC and features a genuine Tasmanian Oak baffle (no veneer found here!). You'll also notice the "NB AUDIO" markings which is a sneak peak of what's to come! It has had a few hours testing on it hence the significant discount on RRP but is in near new condition.
‘Mercury’ combines the subtlety and precision of simplicity with a wide sound stage and exceptional sonic transparency. The higher end could be described as detailed and organised while being unfussy in nature. The lower end provides agile and articulate bass while maintaining impressive dynamic punch. ‘Mercury’ is a fun little entry level speaker to build and listen to with a largely flat response from 77 hz right up to 20khz. This driver in a smaller box does result in a gradual 2db gain around 120hz which does give it a little more bass.
